Yes, Luna can work without Wi-Fi if both stations have a working internet connection through another route, such as mobile data. It is not an offline baby monitor. A phone with mobile coverage alone is not enough: mobile data must be available and enabled. Both devices also need iOS or iPadOS 15.0 or later.

Check how each station gets online

Think about the baby station and parent station separately. The baby station might use Wi-Fi while your parent phone uses mobile data. When there is no usable Wi-Fi, a cellular-capable device needs an active data connection. An iPad that only supports Wi-Fi cannot connect directly to a mobile network.

Before opening Luna, check that each device can reach the internet. Seeing a Wi-Fi symbol does not necessarily mean the network has internet access. Guest networks may require you to complete a sign-in page first.

Set up and test on the connection you will use

Install Luna on both compatible devices and connect the baby and parent stations using the app's instructions. Check that mobile data is allowed for Luna on any device that needs it. Test audio and live video while using the same connection you expect to keep during monitoring.

Repeat the check from your intended location. A successful test beside the baby station does not establish that mobile reception is equally good elsewhere. If the connection becomes unreliable, return to direct supervision and resolve the connection before continuing.

Plan for data, power and network changes

Luna's audio and video transmission uses data. The amount depends on how you use the app; there is no single figure that describes every session. Check your mobile allowance, roaming conditions and device data usage rather than assuming monitoring is included without limits.

Luna includes an Eco Mode intended to reduce battery and data use, but this does not remove the need for an internet connection or charged devices. Retest after moving between networks. Keep devices and cables out of your child's reach, and do not leave your child unsupervised.

Will a baby monitor app reach the garden or another floor?

If a radio monitor loses its connection through thick walls or on the way to your patio, Luna instead depends on internet access at each device’s location. For example, the baby station can stay on Wi-Fi while your parent iPhone uses mobile data. There is no fixed range in metres or feet.

Test sound and connection alerts exactly where you plan to use the parent device. A Wi-Fi icon alone does not confirm working internet. Stay close enough to go straight to your child when needed.
